Q: Is a self-defense course for my child worth it?
A: We may agree that two or more kids slugging it out is commonly called fighting. It is however, only one form of fighting. It's a ridiculous but real form of expressing oneself and sometimes a necessary form of protecting oneself. Now, different forms of fighting include, using courage (acting in spite of fear), setting boundaries (so we don't get walked on or influenced in negative ways), self-talk (fighting ourselves),

Kids and focusing, or what I call, kids and curiosity / interest.
Focusing for kids (sometimes referred to as attention span) could just be the biggest deal, in the biggest picture of things, for many parents and educators. Health and happiness is what everyone wants for their little ones throughout their life. That takes a focus in the direction of, well, health and happiness... The big picture!

Just kidding but sometimes that's what it can feel like to the short ones. How they are encouraged to train outside of their classes can determine if it's even going to happen at all. Especially if mom or dad is a martial artist and tries to train them.
Practicing at home can really speed up the crazy benefits our kids get from martial arts training. The average child comes to class twice
